Our first Artist of the Month is the stunning AbiGael. Born in Nigeria and raised in Waterford, Abigael is poised to take on the world. Here’s a little bit more about her, in her own words…
I am excited to be a part of Rootstrings Management, as both an artist and a manager. I’m excited to be surrounded by a brilliant team of supportive hardworking and talented individuals!
Last week I launched my first official cover recording as part of RootStrings’ ShannonSideSessions, which you can watch here. It’s my version of the Vance Joy song ‘Georgia,’ but with a little extra influence from ‘Georgia on My Mind.’
I chose to sing ‘Georgia’ because it’s a story telling song and I love the way it’s written. It’s a simple song yet the melody captures the listeners ear and gives a nostalgic feeling. The song always takes me to another world when I listen to it and that’s why I chose to sing this song as I would love people to get the same feeling when they hear my own songs also! It’s joyful and sad at the same time, and mostly it just makes you feel good when you hear it, and that’s always what I want for my own music to do.
My favorite part about working with Rootstrings is the feeling of community and connection. You can tell how passionate everyone is about working in Rootstrings and everyone is extremely supportive of each other. I feel like my vision and opinion are always valued by the team, and they’re always there to answer questions and bounce ideas off!
As a manager, I think that I can help other artists in Rootstrings by being the support they need. I think that I can encourage artist and help them to bring out the best in themselves and to be confident enough to put themselves out there and to be proud of their art. I love working with artists to build their brand and image and helping to bring the artist’s vision to life.
Next week I’m releasing my very first original song (!!!), and I’m so excited for people to hear it! I’m so thrilled to be beginning career journey with Rootstrings’ support and I’m looking forward to lots of exciting things to come!
